PORTFOLIO

The Quiet Girl & Security

In the early stage, we first researched the content related to family intimacy, original family and security, and also did user research. After that, I plan to disassemble and analyze from the four directions of film characters, plot and artist research, and finally do knitting design drafts and make finished clothes.

My goal is very clear: knitting technology to make clothes, and at the same time dig out the reassuring details in the movie - such as comfortable scenes, heartwarming lines, and the relaxing atmosphere shot by the camera, to help those young people who are troubled by their original families and want to be healed by warmth and rebuild trust to understand how the sense of security passes The movie images and stories convey some comfort to them.

The steps of the project are also quite clear: first check the information to lay the foundation, then disassemble the film into four stages for visual analysis, and finally make knitting samples to turn ideas into physical objects. There are quite a lot of knitting-related techniques used, such as flat needle knitting, which can make a flat and soft fabric, which fits the warm and soothing atmosphere in the film; jacquard knitting can present the key scenes or symbols in the film on the fabric, so that the sense of security can be expressed concretely; and ribbed knitting, which is elastic and quite fitting, is suitable for clothing. The mouth part; in addition, the weaving technology will be used. The structure of the warp and weft intertwined can be a metaphor for the complex relationship in the original family; the crochet technique is also indispensable, which is flexible and can make three-dimensional modeling, which can accurately capture the specific scenes and delicate emotions in the film.

You may encounter trouble in the process. For example, when sewing knitted fabrics with a sewing machine, the tension is uneven and difficult to sew. At that time, adjust the equipment more and study the tension of the needles and threads; if the time is tight, plan the progress reasonably and don't rush the time. Finally, whether the design is successful or not, it mainly depends on whether the idea is in place, whether the craft is good or not, and whether it can resonate with it. I will listen to the advice of the tutor, ask the feelings of the target audience, and then reflect on it myself. If there is any problem, I will change it.

It took 7 weeks to complete the whole project: the first week of research, 2-3 weeks to analyze the film, 4-6 weeks to test techniques, make installations and samples, and the seventh week to finish the finished product.

Christiane F.

Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo

The theme of the project revolves around the movie Christiane F. - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo.

Research and exploration direction: in-depth analysis of the costume design, color use and narrative style of the film, and study many knitting artists Works, learn jacquard, hollow and other weaving techniques; draw the conclusion that knitting art can carry emotions and narratives, and plan to visually present early love, original family trauma, post-drug spirit through contrasting colors, experimental needlework (such as twisted three-dimensional weaving, broken needles), special materials (fluorescent yarn, metal thread), etc. Collapse and other core issues.

The output is a knitted series of works containing 2-3 sets of clothing; it uses fabric language to embody the complex emotions in the growth of teenagers, provides a cathartic outlet for those who have experienced emotional trauma, and helps bystanders understand the relevant hidden pain; the target audience is the group with emotional trauma and the observers who pay attention to the mental health of adolescents.

Content structure and realization method: promote in four steps, first research the relevant film and designer files, then study the destructive knitting technique, then verify the process through small sample experiments, and finally hand-woven to make ready-made clothes; use hand-cranked knitting machine, hand crochet technology, with horsehair wool, ordinary wool, tassels and other materials, and adopt Flower, deliberate derailing, density contrast weaving and other techniques to convey the theme.

Challenge response and evaluation improvement: For time management, hand-cranked knitting machine card line breakage, creative bottleneck and other problems, by making a daily plan, asking teachers, and reserve buffer time to deal with it; divided into design, proofing, finished product stages, through repeated modification of design draft, multi-sample testing, collection of feedback, and seeking professional guidance to continuously improve Chemical works

Wave Change

Sustainable Future for Ocean

The theme of the project is wave change - creating a sustainable future for the ocean", focusing on the marine pollution caused by cruise oil spills.

Research and exploration direction: We have investigated the news reports, field visits and scientific research of cruise oil spills. It is found that accidents are mostly caused by human errors and extreme weather, which are far-reachingly harmful to marine ecology and coastal industries, and there are shortcomings in emergency treatment and supervision; it is planned to present marine pollution through textile design visualization, with special Fixed materials and knitting techniques show pollution scenes and ecological conflicts to create environmentally friendly theme fashion.

Project goal: produce environmental protection-themed works with knitted clothing as the carrier; realize the integration of environmental protection concept and fashion design, explore the application of sustainable design in the cruise industry, arouse the public's awareness of marine protection, and provide new ideas for the sustainable development of the textile industry; the target audience includes fashion consumers who pay attention to sustainable development, Cruise and hotel industry procurement decision-maker and environmental protection advocacy organization.

Content structure and implementation method: First, deeply research the oil leakage incident and analyze the techniques of environmental protection artists, and then transform the artistic techniques into knitting language, then mix and weave marine biological knitted parts with recycled fishing nets and other materials, and finally complete the ready-made clothing through three-dimensional cutting integration; use basic knitting technology and manual knitting technology, match Mahai wool, tasse yarn, ordinary wool and recycled fishing nets and other materials are suitable for the theme to express the needs.

In response to the challenges of time management, hand-cranked knitting machine card line breakage, creative bottlenecks, etc., we can deal with them by making plans, asking teachers, and resetting buffer time; control the quality in stages of design, proofing and finished products, and continuously improve by modifying design drafts, testing multiple samples, collecting feedback, and asking teachers.

Chaoshan Architecture

Cultural Perspective & Textile Design

The theme of the project is "Chaoshan residential architecture: cultural perspective", focusing on the integration of Chaoshan regional architectural culture and textile design.

Direction of exploration: Combined with one's own identity as Chaoshan nationality, through second-hand research such as books, blogger's article analysis, as well as first-hand research such as interviews with relatives and friends, etc., get an in-depth understanding of the core elements of Chaoshan residences such as the corner head shape system (herringbog-shaped, pot ear-shaped, wave-shaped), porcelain inlaid non-heritage technology, brick pattern, Nanyang cultural origin, etc.; clearly explore The direction includes architectural style, the craft and shape of flower tiles and inlaid porcelain, related cultural customs, etc.

Project objectives: to produce brick pattern digital printing design, paintings based on the color extraction of ancestral homes and supporting belts, headdresses, clothing and other series of achievements; inherit and protect Chaoshan traditional architectural culture and non-heritage skills, alleviate the impact of modernization on traditional culture, and enhance the cultural recognition of Chaoshan youth groups aged 15-25. Together, help the international dissemination of Chaoshan's intangible cultural heritage.

Content structure and realization mode: The core goal is to combine Chaoshan culture with clothing and accessory design, and promote cultural inheritance and international promotion; the main tasks revolve around research deepening, element extraction, design practice, and finished product optimization, and follow the logical order of "research-refining-creation-improvement"; adopt hand painting, oak Rubber engraving printing, quilting and other technologies, using colored lead, watercolor, yarn, fabric, gold flower, resin and other materials, combined with non-heritage technology and cultural characteristics to create.

Challenge response and evaluation improvement: In response to problems such as the difficulty of screening inlaid porcelain materials and the clutter of architectural style research information, it is solved by patiently screening materials and combining first-hand and second-hand research to verify information; take the quality of the work and the presentation of the effect after many attempts as the core evaluation criteria, and optimize the design through continuous practice and feedback.
